The intercultural party

The last Friday, the volunteers of Santiago de Compostela presented their country to share their culture.


This intercultural party took place in form of a TV game. Each volunteer had 10 min to present his country in a funny and entertaining way. After each presentation, the « spectators » -the guests- should choose a note between 1 until 5 to value the presentation.


Between each presentation the organizers, the 3 volunteers of Don Bosco Judith, Marie and Tom had prepared interval acts like a weather report, the horoscope, and rumours to fill the break.


At the end of the party, guests and volunteers shared tradicional food and drinks of the diferent countries.

Well, to begin with I would like to say thank you to Don Bosco for organizing so amazing events! However, it was awesome also because of the creativity of the volunteers.  So, we had 5 countries: Austria, Denmark, Germany, Spain and Ukraine.  And we started in this alphabetic order J Josipa organized an interesting game for the memory, where we also learnt some things about her country – Austria.   The second country was Denmark – and there we had a quiz. Amanda prepared exciting questions, and we all competed to know who knows about Denmark more. It was interesting, funny and creative at the same time. I even took the notes about the program she used to do it, because its really cool.   Then, we want to see the presentation of Germany! It was hilarious! We had an amazing dance! Chelly told us the translation of this German cool song and we enjoyed dancing! It was easy to understand from everyone’s face that they really did like it!

Running Carreira Pedestre

On sunday I was running a marathon! Well, it's not exactly a marathon, it more like a quarter-marathon.... The name of the event is Carreira Pedestre. It is a 12km race trough the city of Santiago de Compostela. It's open for everybody to compete, profesionals and amateurs (such as me). This was a 35th time this race has been held, and the record was broken with 6.388 competitors.

ENTROIDO - and entire Galicia is partying!

(source: wikicommons) What's this "entroido" everybody is talking about lately in Santiago? Well, if you don't know that "entroido" means "carnival" in Galician it's quite hard to associate all the parties, disguises and the special food this magic word is implying. Generally, celebrating carnival is a phenomenon present in many different cultures of the world, whether the famous "Carnaval de Rio de Janeiro", the German and Austrian "Fasching" or "Fasnacht", or the "Mardi Gras" in New Orleans - carnival is everywhere! However, this article is going to present you a type of carnival which is unique in Spain, full of strange stuff as "peliqueiros", "cigarrones", "gaitas", "queimada" y "orellas" (the last two terms being food) - in one word, "entroido", the carnival of Galicia!
