International dinner

Few days ago, we (volunteers of Santiago) came up with the idea of  making an international dinner. We considered this as a good idea, to learn more about each others cultures and also to benefit from our different origins to get a huge multicultural dinner, which leaded us to discover new tastes and new meals. Furthermore we saw it as an act of  " team-building" as it leaded to strengthen our relationship as flatmates through a nice evening. As we are from different countries (Luxembourg, Ukraine, Turkey, Serbia, Austria, Czech Republic, Greece, Belgium and Belarus) there was a huge field of different courses that could be cooked.
So, we decided that each of us is going to make something typical from their home country. Moreover, as we didn't wanted to have only main dishes, we discussed about making appetizers, salads, soups, main dishes and desserts. After discussing who makes what and organizing the usage of the two kitchens, most of us went for shopping to the traditional market of Santiago the Compostela, which is famous for his high-quality local products.
When the evening came, everybody had his meal prepared, with the exception of Jakob from Austria who made his  delicious Austrian dessert "Kaiserschmarrn" after the dinner. We opened some bottles of Ribeiro (galician wine) and enjoyed a great dinner all together, telling us some stories about the meals and our different home countries. Like this we managed to create a culinary travel threw Europe, we learned and tasted new things and enjoyed the possibility to share an evening in such a multicultural group, which allowed to everyone of us to gain new perspectives.

For the food, we had (2. picture) Greek salad, "Feuilleté aux chèvres chauds" from Belgium, Mimoza (4. picture) and Proja (5. picture) from Serbia, Karniyarik (3.picture) from Turkey and "Kaiserschmarrn" from Austria, "Bounenschlupp" from Luxembourg (7. picture) and Tzatziki from Greece.
