EVS in Santiago de Compostela

Between the 28th and 29th of march the minders of the Ludoteca of Don Bosco met in Ourense to attend a training. We were hosted by the school of Don Bosco in Ourense, there we had a room we could work in and a room to sleep. The training started with an interview to get to know each other better. We formed groups of two and had a paper with different questions to ask our partner.   Afterwards we spoke about the operation of the Ludoteca: - The activities - The responsabilities of the minders - The rights of the minders - The norms and objectives of the Ludoteca - The values of Don Bosco     In the afternoon we played a game called "mission impossible". In groups of 4 we had to answer questions about the city of Ourense. A good way to get to know the city while at the same time having fun! Marie and Judith

Between the 29 th of March (Palm Sunday) and the 5 th of April (Easter Sunday) the Holy Week was celebrated here. The city was full of pilgrims and tourists who wanted to see the Easter-processions of which every day at least one took place. The participants wear hoods with conical tip which cover the entire face. The completely covering clothes make it possible to demonstrate penance while at the same time masking ones identity.   Furthermore they carry sculptures of different scenes of the Passion of Christ or of Virgin Mary.      Everything is accompanied by slow and solemn music from marching bands who play drums, bagpipes and trumpets. 2015 is the birthday of the Bicentenary of Don Bosco's Birth. Two weeks before the event, the animators organized a lot of games about Don Bosco and his life (competitions of drawings, quiz, movie about Don Bosco's life,...) To celebrate this, the center Don Bosco organized a party with several animations: singer, Tyroleans, mass, and appetizer. For this event, Don Bosco welcomed about sixty people (parents and children) This event was the opportunity to pay a tribute to Don Bosco. Marie.  

Every year Don Bosco's Centor  proposes a theme for the carnaval and prepare the event with the children. This year the theme was THE SHOWER ! During two weeks the volunteers and the children prepared disguises: shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, sponge bob, etc. And we are participated in the parade!

This week end two volunteers were in Baiona to visit this city and to enjoy the party. What is the party ? Baiona, in the province of Pontevedra, celebrates this festival with the arrival of the caravel Pinta at its port carrying the news of the discovery of America. In memory of this historic event, many events are held in March. The streets of the old town and nearby walks recreate a true medieval festival offering products characteristic of the fifteenth century craftsmanship. Visitors will encounter are musicians, jugglers, acrobats and other craftsmen who will lead their stay. Marie.   

The  20 of january fifty children who are 6 - 7 years old came to Don Bosco to watch & participate in the activity "pirate". This activity is supervised by a coordinator and three volunteers. It is the recreational activity that allows to discuss around the subject of the inclusion. The objective is that the children think about the inclusion, what is good or bad, how it is necessary to act etc.
